October Inferno

BrownHellDiscoInfernoFront.jpg

October is only a few days away, so that means it's time for another Disco Inferno. Joining me in the decadent depths of Hell this Saturday night will be special guest One Duran (1200 Problems, WXYC 89.3 FM, Dyssembler, countless other hot parties over the years).

I've already posted this Disco Inferno flyer a couple of times already, so above is a slightly more October-ish/autumnal version that puts its lighters up for MUNI and the Cleveland Browns. Since orange rules and since brown is the new black...

Heavy Petting Takeover

HeavyPettingFlyer9-22.jpg

Come on out to Wetlands Dancehall this Thursday night for "The Heavy Petting Takeover". I'll be teaming up with Heavy Petting/Family regulars Uzi and Silvaback for a FREE night of electro + disco-punk + dance-rock + new-wave + more. So very hyphenated and 1980s, and yet hopefully still stupid fresh for today's hard times. I've been waiting for just the right moment to bust out Time Zone's "World Destruction", I think this is definitely going to be it....

HudsonBellCD.jpgI didn't get any requests except for a joking "Can you play 'Trapped In The Closet'?" call from one of my friends. But I did get a couple of who-is-this calls during Four Tet (playing tonight at 506, aw yeah) and Hudson Bell. I was psyched that someone wanted to know more about the Hudson Bell track, Hudson's actually a good buddy of mine from my San Francisco days. His forthcoming album When The Sun Is The Moon was even recorded/engineered by my main man Chris Palmatier. Palmatier's longtime Brian and Chris collaborator Brian Fraser (formerly of Chapel Hill's Tractor Hips) plays drums on the record, too. When The Sun Is The Moon comes out October 11th on Monitor Records, so check it out if you dig well-written rock songs full of earnest hooks and guitar-pedal goodness.

Katrina Fund

KatrinaFund.jpg

Thanks to everybody who came out to Disco Inferno on Saturday night, but extra special thanks to those who opened up their wallets and threw some cash into our "Katrina Fund" bucket. Hell generously matched all of those donations, and once you throw in the additional revenue from the designated Katrina-relief drink, the total hurricane-relief take from the night wound up being close to a thousand bucks.

Of course you can still donate money directly to the Red Cross. And Hell will have another designated Katrina-relief drink at the next dance party on October 1st.

Dancing In September

Hell - Disco Inferno

Hell has thrown big dance parties during each of the last four Augusts. But we've never had a Bueno Love Baller party during the month of September....well, unless I really stretch the definitions a bit and count the fun Jeb-and-Betsy afterparty that I half-assedly "DJ-ed" during that naively optimistic and strangely innocent weekend of 09/08/2001. Good times, good times.

In any case, this Saturday night is the next Disco Inferno and there will most definitely be quite a bit of dancing in September. Ba de ya, come on out and make our day...
